If I had to choose between a Bliss Ball or a biscuit for a 3pm pick-up, I choose a Bliss Ball… Every. Single. Time. Not just because it’s a healthier option, but it satisfies my sweet tooth with not a single smidge of guilt. These Bliss Ball recipes include a fantastic plant protein powder making them a brilliant post workout snack or a great companion to a cup of tea ensuring you meet your daily protein requirements. Getting enough (and the right) protein is super important, especially if we want to slow the ageing process.
KA’S PROTEIN BALLS
- 1 cup raw cashews
- 1 cup LSA (ground Linseed, sunflower seeds and Almonds) or almond meal
- 1 cup dried fruit (I use dates as they work well with almond, honey and tahini)
- 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
- 1/2 cup Protein Powder
- 1/2 cup nuts – walnuts and almonds are my fave
- 1 tablespoon Honey (optional) – I find the dates make this recipe sweet enough
Mix all together in a blender (don’t over blend, rustic is good). Roll into balls and toss lightly in coconut.
WARNING: These are really moorish. I highly recommend you hide from others so you can enjoy the lot!!
LEMONY LONGEVITY BOUNCE BALLS
- 1 cup raw cashews
- 11/2 cup desiccated coconut
- 1/2 cup Protein Powder
- 1 lemon (juice & zest)
- 1 tablespoon Honey (optional) – I find the dates make this recipe sweet enough
- pinch of salt and extra water to the ensure right ‘stickiness’
Mix all together in a blender (don’t over blend, rustic is good). Roll into balls and toss lightly in coconut.
TIP: I store in freezer not the fridge, mainly to stop me from eating them too quick! They’re yum!
