Blue Green Sanctuary

Our retreat sanctuary is nestled in the Byron Hinterland, a short 12 minute drive from Byron Bay town. Spanning across five acres of paradise, it is as close to heaven as you can get. With its rolling lawns, terraces and nooks, swings in the rainforest, wild ducks on the lake, and three gorgeous pools… serenity is easy to find. And the luxurious accomodation intertwines understated sophistication with the casual Byron Bay lifestyle. Glorious Gaia Cuisine

A massive contributor to feeling fantastic is the food we eat. Food truly is thy medicine! And this is the philosophy of Gaia Cuisine who will be creating our delicious and nutritious meals. Using fresh, seasonal, local ingredients, Angelo and his team will make your taste buds sing.  Food is not only about eating, it’s about the process of growing and healing. On the last evening of our retreat Angelo will share his secrets teaching you to cook plant-based wholesome dishes, including a decadent (yet healthy) dessert.

Your Lifestyle & Your DNA

Knowing your genetic profile gives you the code you need to unlock the secrets to your lonevity. Genetically, there are the differences that you can see, such as eye and hair colour, but there are also the differences you don’t. With busy lifestyles and so many dietary choices and exercise regime choices, it is so easy to be overwhelmed when considering changes to getting the best health outcomes for our health. When I heard about DNA testing to identify my own personal make up for health and fitness, I was intrigued…so I ordered a kit. After doing a mouth swab, and sending the kit to the lab for analysis, it was only a matter of weeks before results came through on email, with a detailed summary.

What it included was a large range of information, from optimal diet and exercise recommendations, to learning of various genetic markers on things like – how I react to stress, caffeine and alcohol, through to bone mineral density. With various summaries to reflect on, it has given me the opportunity to make educated changes on diet, exercise, sleep patterns and coping with stress. Also, what did I personally want to do with all this information? What I found extremely useful was working with a Kris to navigate through the results, and create a plan.

I recommend taking time out to do this, to reflect on what changes I was able (and willing) to make, and then preparing and implementing positive changes into my life. For me, a break from work and time away from home was the perfect way to start…

Without a doubt the best thing I have done for my health is do a DNA test and have Kris decipher my results and make sense of it. I had always struggled with weight around my middle. Even though I ate well and did a lot of walking I couldn’t shift it. Turns out I have a gene variation that means my body has no trouble converting carbs to fat. Apparently, if we were in cave times this is a really good gene to have. Unfortunately, not cave times!! Kris gave me some great tips to work with this variation. Make sure the majority of my carbs came form fruit and vege and instead of putting all my time into walking, start doing resistance training. If I hadn’t done a DNA test I would never have known this is what I needed to do and still have a spare tyre around my waist. Thanks Kris!

I learnt so much working with Kris and unpacking my DNA test results. Some of the results made perfect sense, I can’t drink coffee without getting jittery and my DNA results confirmed this. But I didn’t realise I had a low tolerance to stress (worrior). Now that I know this, and with Kris’s strategies to help me deal with stress, I can manage it. I’ve also and learnt the art of saying no. I’ve also switched up my exercise routine based on my DNA and had major improvements in fitness.

Do I have to do the DNA Test

No. You will still learn a lot about your body, and simple biohacks to improve your health regardless of your DNA. Knowing your DNA takes away the hit and miss and ensures all you do for your health is actually helping, not hindering!

You will walk away from this week with many tools to age well regardless of your DNA. That said, you will know doubt be curious and want to know exactly how YOU tick. You can always do your DNA test post retreat if you want. 

Who is this retreat for?

Any one over 18 who needs to recharge and get off the treadmill. We limit our retreat number to 14 to ensure we can give each guest the attention they deserve.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Refunds for the balance payments vary depending on timing. For cancellation requests submitted with more than 90 days of retreat date: 100% of total amount (less deposit) will be refunded. Cancellation requests within 30 days of the retreat: sorry but no refunds given, no exceptions. Nobody books a retreat with the intention of canceling it, but unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits will be granted for failure to attend, complete or for arriving late or leaving early.

Is there a minimum number of guests required for retreat to go ahead?

Yes! Unfortunately, I am not a charity and have to cover all costs. If we don’t reach minimum number of guests required I will give you plenty of notice and you will receive a full refund. The only exception is on your flights (if these have been booked). You will need to liaise with your travel agent for this, however I will assist where I can.


Our Covid Policy

What do I need to bring?

An open heart and mind!

We also recommend you bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Swimmers, hat & sunscreen
  • Plenty of Active wear (including joggers) for the 5 days
  • Hiking shoes if you wish to join me in a few more challening hikes
  • Comfy clothing
  • All your bathroom amenities
  • A great book to read and a journal (if you’re that way inclined)
  • A jumper or light jacket if the weather is unseasonaly cool

Our dress code is 100% comfortable. Leaving your fancy wear and valuables at home.

How do I get to the retreat venue?

Travel to Blue Green Sanctuary is not included in the cost of the retreat, however we are happy to help you organise this at your cost.

If flying, fly to Balina or Gold Coast airports. It is about 40 mins by car to arrive at Blue Green Sanctuary.

If driving, head to Byron Bay and instead of going into Byron Bay go inland.
