A Look at Heather Graham’s Fitness and Beauty Regimen

Nov 21, 2017 | Beauty, Health, Over 40

With her youthful looks, it’s hard to imagine that Heather Graham has been part of the entertainment industry for over three decades. Her first appearance dates back to 1984’s Mrs. Soffel. Her big, blue eyes, blonde hair, and slender frame might have something to do with how she consistently appears in the ‘Most Beautiful People of the World’ lists. But good genes are only one aspect of why she is able to maintain her looks, despite being part of an industry notorious for unhealthy life habits. This article takes a look at how Graham has managed to retain her youthful appearance.

Health and fitness

Besides her work in film and television, Graham is also known for being a yoga advocate. She discovered yoga around 30-years-ago and has practiced it ever since. She even described it as her “obsession”, saying that it helps keep her healthy from the inside out. According to Mind Body Green, the actress does yoga five days a week. She routinely attends yoga retreats as well, where she does around four hours of yoga daily.

Yoga is especially helpful for her now given her age. As we’ve said before here on Kris Abbey, it helps improve mood and reduce pre-menopausal symptoms. Aside from yoga though, the actress also does Pilates twice a week to strengthen and tone her muscles. Additionally, she loves to dance.

Graham is also well known as a fan of transcendental meditation, which she tries to do on a daily basis. She learned about this practice when she was working with David Lynch on Twin Peaks back in 1992. It helps keep her stress at bay, which is essential for people who work in a fast-paced environment such as the entertainment industry. This certainly worked for her as she was making Half Magic, a film that she wrote, directed, and starred in. She does a 20-minute transcendental meditation twice a day to relax.

Diet

Graham follows a healthy, balanced diet, and claims she has a love for nutritious food such as kale. While she admitted to having had a sweet tooth in the past, she now tries to avoid sugar and white flour. Besides this, the actress relayed to the Independent that she no longer drinks alcohol, saying that she is “goofy enough to have fun without drinking.”

Beauty Inside and Out

The Hollywood actresses’ latest project as the face of the UK-based gaming giant Foxy Bingo shows that her features seem to have been largely unaffected by the effects of ageing. A report by SBC News stated that she was chosen for the role primarily because of her bubbly personality. It has long been established that smiling, laughter and staying happy aid in slowing down the aging process.

Nonetheless, Graham still complements her lively demeanor with a skincare routine to maximize the retention of her youthful looks. In an interview with Refinery29, Graham revealed that another secret behind her great skin is moisturizing not just her face, but her whole body. She says that she uses a night cream from the Body Shop, although she also occasionally slathers on Crème de la Mer. Great sleep also factors in as one of Graham’s beauty secrets. She told The Guardian that she sleeps between 9 and 12 hours a night.
